WE OFTEN FORGET ABOUT TASSIE , DON'T WE.

Let's not forget Tasmania this Australia Day as they suffer through a drought nearly as bad as some of the mainland areas.

I hope you get it, we had plenty in Qld border areas today.

We swam in the rain at Currumbin , found a dry spot at Paradise Point to eat our lunch quickly before the rain caught up to us.

    But was certainly welcome.

We got a bit out here at South Arm last night, but not enough to make much difference to the tank levels.

Putting the young bloke on the plane back to Kalgoorlie in the morning (where they had 80mm and local flooding last night - my lawn should be doing well ).

Hopefully we'll get a decent downpour here later in the week - the tanks could do with a top-up. The potato farmer next door was out ploughing his paddocks today - I'm thinking that's a good sign.
    Cheers .........

The water shortage, in part, is due to the amount of hydroelectricity that is being produced to sell to the mainland.
The environmentally-friendly nature of hydro power means that it is sold for more money per unit than coal-fire produced power. Tasmania sells their hydro power and then we buy other power from the mainland at elevated prices.

The Macquarie River has been flowing at high levels for months as the Poatina Hydro plant tail race flows into it.

    Money, money, money.
