best of luck to you Greg, I hope it works out well for you.

Hi fellow AULROers,
I am currently looking for a career change, seeking an apprenticeship within the Automotive Industry. I have tried countless group training organizations and third party recruitment companies to no avail, not to mention respectively canvassing workshops in my area. Some businesses have been kind enough to inform me that my age is the only thing preventing my employment, so I've decided to get a bit creative and utilize social media to assist in my efforts.
I am comfortable and well versed performing mechanical repairs according to the RAVE, with a special interest in electrical and diagnostic systems.
If yourself, or someone you know requires a great apprentice Motor Mechanic or Automotive Electrician who is willing to go the extra mile and is resolute, punctual and attentive to detail, with a genuine passion to grow within the Automotive Industry, I possess the skills and experience your organization requires!
Although I am situated in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne and would love to obtain work locally, I am prepared to relocate as far as the NSW Central Coast for the right Employer / training combination. Might I also add, there is also quite a substantial incentive offered by the Victorian Government, with $2500 payed initially. Thank you all for taking the time to read this, please do not hesitate to contact me for a CV or to request further information, I would love to hear from you!
Sincerly,
Greg Carlsen

Greg, I'm not sure how old you are but my current employer has apprentices in their late twenties and two blokes who became qualified at the end of last year are either 30 or 31.
Good luck.
I'm surprised that at 24 Greg they have considered you to be a bit too old.
My way of thinking would set you at a perfect age. Not too young, (dumb with no experience so to speak), and now with a bit of life experience up your sleeve, you have an idea of what you want to do. Therefore your probably more apt to learning.
Mate, all the best, I'll send you a pm of somewhere to try anyway, not sure if it's where you want to head exactly, but if nothing else you may if they want you, gain a bit of experience.
Greg.
Im guessing you have contacted all the Land rover specialists and dealers seeing thats your passion?????
I wouldnt rule out interstate either.
GOODLUCK
Andrew

Greg , I know that this is probably outside your thinking , but you can now enlist in the ADF and actually choose a career path.
The RAAF school of technical training has many trade courses available for adult trainees.
It means signing up for 6 yrs but its a genuine choice you can make.
Where is BLKNight? he could be of value to you.
Good Luck Greg! Hope this works out for you!

Have you tried any auto electrical places? My local auto elect always seems be looking out for an apprentice.
ADF, join get paid whilst you learn, get lots of allowances, if you have no other avenue and really want to make a career change may be the way to go.
just a thought
Cheers, Mario
