Hello All,
Yes I know the Title Line's content is an oxymoron. However, one would think that a language based discipline could lend itself to knowing the correct words to use. Spellcheckers rul' There was a story about Aldi being racist against Scottish people during an advertisement.
Here is a quote - Nicole Reaney, director of InsideOut Public Relations told SmartCompany on Wednesday the case is an example of political correctness going to far. hmmm I thought is should be too as in going too far.
Then at the bottom of the article is states... "Ronelle Richards is a journalist at SmartCompany, there this story first appeared"
Hmmm I would have written it as "Where" this story first appeared.
Okay I did train and worked as a journalist and I also undertook postgraduate studies in the field. Then I got bored with the vocation....
The killer is look at the name of the company that the journalist whom wrote the article works forAm I being too harsh?
Kind Regards
Lionel

Hello P38rover,
Yes I did post it with a degree of hesitation knowing that grammar vultures would swoop on any mistakes. It beckons the first rule of Muphry's Law. However, I am not being paid as a professional and also I do not work for an organisation called "smartcompany".
Nor was I taught grammar. I am from the period of education where things like correct grammar and punctuation were said to "stifle the creative flow".![]()
Then again going back to Muphry's Law One it mirrors the saying "people in glass houses ..."
When I did work as a professional journalist I had editorial staff that knew more grammar than I ever would - something that "smartcompany" must lack.
Kind Regards
Lionel
Lionel, I couldn't help myself.
Actually, I did read the article and found a few other errors. I really wonder about some of today's journalists - some of their writing is so ambiguous, one wonders what they are trying to say.

Journalism in this country has degenerated to the point that it is little more than cut and paste. We no longer have subjective reporting, this having been replaced by "opinion pieces", most of which is very poorly researched and little more than parroting the views of media moguls.
