    Bachelor Chow.

    Intent of the thread?

Meals you can knock together that meet at least 3 of the following.
    • in under 10 minutes (some may require more if you dont have pre prepped ingredients from earlier meals or you dont by pre cut fridge friendly stuff)
    • prepare and have 90% of the dishes done as part of the meal prep
    • effectively cost <$5 per person
    • can be served from the containers you cook them in
    • dont require but go well with beer/siders/post/premixer drinks
    • can be cooked just as easily at a camp site
    • can be pre-prepared, frozen and then reheated

    Some other posts I've made.

Steak and onion with chilli garlic aoli and cheese Jaffle

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/808904-post21.html

    And todays lunch..

Peas and corn served with fried ham and onion in a garlic chilli cheese sauce.

stick a pan on the stove or use your jaffle iron get it hot chuck in your ham chunks and onion. stir it occasionally.

into the microwave in a disposable microwave safe container (cant have dishes that take more than 10 seconds to deal with) stick your peas and corn along with a couple of table spoons of water. zap that for 2 minutes.

while thats happening thin slice some tasty cheese (use your potato peeler) stir up the ham and onion.

strain the peas and corn, (welding gloves on, crack the lid tip to the side dont use a normal strainer, thats more dishes) chuck in the grated up tasty cheese stir it zap it for another minute, unwrap a slice of processed cheese and stir the ham and onion.

stick in the ham and onion, stir, stick in the processed cheese slice, stir, add the chilli sauce of your liking and a slop of garlic paste. stir.

put it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds clean the preparation utensils, wipe out your non stick fry pan (or do what I did spray some oil into the jaffle iron and ignore it), grab a beer from the fridge grab the food from the microwave and kick back into your favorite comfy position.

    Enjoy.

final dishes should be as simple as drop the disposable container, plastic fork and bottle into the bin.

    the only question is....

    is it bookworthy?....

As a poor lonely student, I used to make my ghetto fried rice.

Load a rice cooker with 2 cups of rice, fill with enough water to cover the rice by about 20mm.
Add frozen veg (about 3/4 cup), Turn rice cooker on and walk away.
    Consume beer.
Return once cooked, Stir thru soy sauce, oyster suce, fish sauce or any other condiments of your choosing (sweet chili works great!)
For the protien side of the meal, you can stir thru a small can of tuna, chopped cooked chicken or anything else that takes your fancy.

    Sneaky fried noodles.
    jaffle iron onto the stove
dice up some bacon and onion, chuck it into the jaffle iron
into your coffee cup (my size coffee cup, not those ****ant 300ml jobbies)
some frozen veg (or fresh diced) stick in the 2 minute noodles add water and microwave (you can also do this in a pot for camping.

In a glass beat an egg with just a whisper of milk to let it froth and thin it up some

shake and turn the jaffle iron every 20 seconds or so. when the microwave beeps open the iron spray the top face with cooking oil.
    turn and shake respray.

decant the mix in the coffee cup. Pour some of the egg stuff into the jaffle iron, about 1/3-1/2 of the noodle+ veg into the jaffle iron. (use the small side first so you dont over fill) add some more of the egg mix, spray the top and close it up, 20 seconds later flip it, scrape the top (assuming your jaffle iron isnt seasoned properly) respray and rotate twice more.

dump it into a disposable plate or a spare coffee cup/bowl and hack up another batch if you're cooking for more than one. If your not you can jaffle the leftover or fry up some more meat and onion then stir it all together, it freezes well and reheats well inside and engine bay or in a zip lock bag in a billy of boiling water.
