We really need more details. Are you speaking about an old acrylic laquer finish ? If so ... just put a polish there. Something like Nufinish will probably last a long time.

If you have managed to buff up base coat (as the clear has broken down) nothing other than a repaint will fix this. modern urethanes really don't need any "coatings" to protect them. The crap they sell iwth new cars is just snake oil to drive up profits.

PS: My idea of detailing a car is parking it in the rain ..... or drive it at speed through the puddle with least mud in it

its on my defender......2003 factory paint.....white......no clear.....
they never came with a clear coat......the paint on the roof had dried out
and was starting to oxidise or feel powdery........

I've cut it back a bit and got the shine back......and just wanted to seal it to prevent
it from happening again......as i won't be able to get to the roof once the racks are on....
not even to wash it......as there will pretty much only be an inch gap between the roof and the racks....

I've called a few....but they don't sell the products....they supply and apply them only.....for around $700 and up.....

And I haven't really left.....I've just been a little forumed out......if you know what I mean.....

And I'm starting to get a little Facebooked out now.....
