And I have just come back from a shoot with the caravan AGAIN got stuck behind someone doing a drifty 80-90 km/h. Every overtaking lane they accelerate to match your speed eventually I passed we were side by side at 120km/h in the overtaking lane these idiots cause accidents.
Re speed as a cause of accidents as a fire fighter most have nothing to do with speeding, most are skippy related and quite low speed, lets ban Roos then..
Chris
they'll also speed up if you hug the center line and tailgate making it look like you're about to over take.
they'll give up after about half an hour when they notice how quickly the fuel gauge is going down or after an hour or so when they bake the engine.
Im up to 2 popped toyotas now..
Ah roundabouts,
I've always viewed them as a one way street, go one way and you have right of way over those entering. Indicate when you turn off. Or follow the lane markings where appropriate.
This was largely settled by a Court case in Victoria some years ago. Police & Insurance said the driver was in the wrong, Supreme Court said she was right.
Imagine a multi lane one way road , with a major exit and then a minor exit.
Driver A was in LH lane heading for the minor exit
Driver B was in RH lane and cut across like 90% of the drivers for the major
Prang,
Shortly thereafter roundabouts were painted up with mandatory exit lanes.
Do two laps around the Royal Parade Flemington Rd roundabout, if you pass, your good to go . :p The trams always win .
Germany has much, much better roads which are fully fenced. People there also generally drive for shorter periods and are therefore not as prone to fatigue.
BTW, they only have unrestricted speed limits on a few autobahns with most limited to 130kph. Elsewhere the general speed limit outside towns is 100kph but this looks like being reduced to 80kph on narrower roads in the near future.
I have driven on the autobahns and they are not good at all, the one I drove has sunken concrete slabs on the slow lane so it was almost impossible to do any speed in, The other lanes were ok, but people were travelling at missile speeds. I was doing 120mph and I was being passed like I was standing still!!
It has been a very long time that you needed to go through the tough German system to get a licence, now with the EU licence getting a licence is very easy.. Re shorter distances, not really so either, there is a lot of traffic driving across Europe, when I had experience of the German roads I had started my trip in London and my destination was Italy which I did in one go I was very tired indeed when I arrived. One thing I suppose they dont get skippy leaping out in front of them :D
Chris
No, they have deer. But much rarer, and they may not be as unpredictable.

Will lowering speed limits be the answer to stopping this sort of thing?
