    any Licensed plumbers here?

My eldest just moved into a rental house 2 days ago. He rings tonight and says the toilet is blocked, the waste won't go down.
It's 9.30pm, agent is shut of course, So I make a house call to see if I can help.
I go out side to see if I can unscrew the inspection plug on the outlet drain to try a free the obstruction.
I see the pipe coming out of the wall from the back of the pan in a small diameter PVC pipe about 65mm in diameter, it is connected to a split rubber collar that has to travel slightly up hill to the pipe going into the ground. flushing the toilet lets effluent discharge into the insulation under the weather boards
Surely this looks like a home handy man owner do it yourself plumbing job .
I'm sure that the reg pip size would be 90 -100mm wouldn't it?
I can't see how a turd and some toilet paper could easily be flushed down such a narrow diameter pipe.
The pipe has a vent pipe and it disappears into a nicely concreted mound at ground level, ( which look professionally done).
The size of the pipe is the same diameter that I have at my home for discharge of sink, laundry water.
Kris is going to report it to the agent first thing in the morning.
    Cheers, Mario

That reminds me of a rental place I lived in.
It was a basement flat, and when ever you emptied the kitchen sink it would first flood into the bathtub before continuing down the drain. We soon learned to keep the plug in the bathtub when ever we were using the kitchen sink.

All sewer pipes running from a toilet should be 100mm. It should definitely not run uphill.

It should have a minimum fall of one in sixty.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Are the old "Miracle Plumber" ! The man who can get water to run up hill.

Reminds me of a place I worked in for 20 years in Melbourne. They had overnight accommodation for shift workers with a shower and toilet. The shower had no screen door and the water that splashed out ran past the drain hole out into the passage way. The drain hole was half an inch higher than the rest of the floor. Result was the carpet tiles were always damp and smelly.

Complaints to the facilities management saw the carpet tiles replaced regularly!!!!

Further complaints resulted in a shower screen!!!

Further complaints saw a grate to stand on when you got out of the shower so you didn't stand in a puddle!!!

The drainage problem was never fixed.

The "Miracle Plumber" joke gets a regular airing.
