Just a little info for those wondering about the dexcom g5. So i have had this thing for about a week, and the constant monitoring is amazing. I've had type 1 since i was in my early 20's, and followed the educators amd dieticians advice a bit, so slow release higher carb food etc...well this thing has opened my eyes to how those foods effect my sugars. Normally i just test before each meal, and generally i am close to what they should be come test time.
So this morning, woke up, levels were about 8, a bit high but not to bad, had insulin, then proceeded with breakfast, 3 x Weet-Bix with milk. 35min later, 14.4., 15.9 as i type 55min after eating. I never expected such a leap so quickly.
Think i will re jig my diet as i am not happy with that.

Those reading are essentially irrelevant as similar rises occur in people without diabetes - what counts is the reading 2 hours after eating. In people without diabetes it will be back at about 5-6 and for people with diabetes (under control) about the same or just a bit higher.
But you are correct - basic carbs (and sugary fruit) are the enemy and this monitoring system can highlight how quickly different foods produce glucose.

I find my control is a lot better if I inject straight after eating. After breakfast and after dinner. The morning dose is a lot more than the night dose. All depends on type of insulin also.

- Nor would I be.
I'd suggest looking into a LOW carb approach. Yes, Opposite to the Good Scientific (?) advice you've been given for years...
This link (Australian) would be a great place to start.

Yeah i generally don't eat a lot of carby food, but at breakfast time, the only thing i enjoy is some kind of cereal.
My brother eats basically no carbs, keto diet, he is type 1 as well, still is up and down with his sugars.
But he has proven that you can be type1 amd not need a high carb diet. He even was invited to camberra to the institute of sport to do a talk on it, which is odd seen as he is a proffesional drummer[emoji1]
For sure. Good carbs like wholemeal rice are not the problem. There a people who are straight carbs (whole grain rice being just an example) who had no diabetes (early Chinese before Western diets for eg). Have a look at the videos here...

Won't be palatable to some. Some will hate the very notion. But peer reviewed science not sponsored by the big interests is hard to argue with.
