If the Tas argument is taken to the extreme then people should not be allowed to breathe oxygen from the atmosphere because death is inevitable as a result of this insidious practice at some stage for everyone.

When I was driving professionally, manny moons ago, I had to use the radio quite a lot. I reckon handling a mic on the end of a curly wire while trying to steer and change gears etc, is far more dangerous than using a phone, at least when it comes to verbal communications.
If it is allowed to agree with Eevo. Then I agree if it is dangerous to use a phone whilst driving Then no one should be allowed to use them. If Police cars can be fitted with myriad high tech communication devices, I don't see why they can't have hands free devices in all emergency vehicles. Especially given that they are called upon to drive at high speed on occasions.

Surely this is no different than writing something in or looking at my diary.
Although i can send and receive txt's on the iPad.
What amazes me is the number of tradies that i see talking on their phones,held up against their ear.
Surely they or their boss can afford a hands free kit.
