Crazy things you find in your job

A few years back while I was working for Telstra I was sent to these premises to find out why their intercom system was not working. This place was a two story building and whoever installed this system took a short cut and ran the 20pr cable up an old chimney from the ground to the 1st floor. Eventually the owners decided to use the fireplace to keep warm and so melted the cable. That was bad enough, but imagine my surprise to find that the chimney stopped in the roof space and did not go out through the roof. The ceiling was covered in burnt debris from the fire. To top it off this was in an old timber building so it does not take much mental thought to see the problem. Jim

We had complaints of rabbits on a road reserve so I went out with a couple of workmates and petrol bombed the warren. It was spectacular, the ground shook. It made us wonder why black smoke continued to billow from the warren after.
A few days later it all made sense.Telstra were there re-wiring,apparently lightening fried their wires,in the same warren

Do you first put some water down the warren?

    - I found that it sort-of, sealed the sand, so the petrol flowed over it and further down the hole...

The inlaws have a fairly persistent rabbit problem despite shooting, gassing of warrens, targeted driving , etc.
    Maybe that's the go

It will fix them,we got rid of heaps of them this way when I was a sod busters slave, you need a warmish day to get the petrol to fumigate the warren well, give it plenty of time.Make sure your petrol fuse is 30 to 50m long,as it goes off bigtime
They dont return to the warren ever again,I dont think they survive the pressure wave

They let go the Calici virus here this year - that decimated them - not sure what it does to anything else! I'm no Rabbit fan but it was hard to watch them suffer over several days - I had to knock a few on the head.
    cheers,
