By the looks of things we are bagging anything with four wheels that is drivable.

And no AC was not an extra in the GU wagon.

I had a Patrol as a rental eighteen months ago while my 110 was repaired after a bloke ran into the back of me.

My impressions of it? Quiet compared to the 110, but the seats had my back aching before I got home, the visibilty is pretty appalling compared to the 110, especially forward visibility and over the bonnet on steep creeks and round the thick windscreen pillars. Handling was a little worse, ride definitely worse - and the aircon didn't work at all (I accepted it knowing that; it was either that or accept a two wheel drive or walk).

Overall unimpressed. (And that was comparing a two year old car with one that was 25 years old and done five times the mileage!)

Don't like any of them, the rolly polly Patrol/Cruiser or the mushy front horse cart rear of modern utes. Pat

i always liked the look of the patrol and miss my old g60 at times....
He does a bit of work to them, increases the injector pump travel and some other things. I've driven his GU, and you'd never call it gutless. Goes like a cut cat, scary actually.

Agreed Pat. I don't like any of them either: fat overblown whales and jacked up cut off station wagons on horse and cart springs. Disco has had it pretty well right for the mid-duty wagon for a while. Now we will see if Land Rover or anyone else can bridge the gap with a HD work vehicle to replace Defender, 70 series Tojo's and Patrol utes...
