Spirit of Tasmania stopped by storm debris etc

More disruptions caused by the huge storms on the eastern seaboard, debris from both Tas and the "north island" and the still big waters are preventing movement.

From the Apple Isle, on the Spirit of Tasmania site

    "Weather update
Please be aware that due to heavy rains and debris in the Mersey River on the north-west coast of Tasmania, the Port of Devonport has been closed to all Commercial Traffic and therefore Spirit of Tasmania will not be departing from Devonport or Melbourne until further notice. Spirit of Tasmania Management remain in close communication with all appropriate authorities in Tasmania, and an update will be provided as soon as possible. Until then, all passengers will be accommodated on board the vessel this evening (Monday 6 June). We thank you for your understanding and patience."

Boat apparently loaded last night and in the process of being unloaded this morning! This boat is usually booked up months in advance I can only assume this will cause some big disruptions.

Lot of members over there too!

Chops is down there at the moment I believe..

Hang in there everyone! Hope everyone in Tasmania (actually just everyone no matter where you are) has come through OK!

Well I'm getting some rain over here, after having bugger all for the past 3 years - it's not all doom and gloom!.Hopefully they lift the water restrictions so I can wash the landy again. Actually wait... I hate washing cars

It's a shame a more of the rain you lot had didn't come over the mountain range to fill the dams here.

My sister and her husband just spent ten days in Tassie. They flew down and back, leaving on Sunday morning before the rain started and arriving in Brisbane after it had passed.

we've had 60mm in the last three days down here - not so bad as up North. The 14100 litre poly tank I had by the house was completely empty on May 5th. Now its overflowing.
    cheers,
    D
