" rainfall accumulations of up to 30mm and localised flooding."

30mm, are they joking? We can get ten times that in an hour during a decent storm.

30mm is barely a drizzle. I believe Sydney during the recent East Coast squall had about 300mm in a few hours.

Maybe over a few days - I had 291mm between Friday evening and Monday morning.

Funny isn't it? We take the mickey out of the UK weather, saying that it's wet and dreary, but in reality the most populous areas have significantly higher rainfall than the UK average.

Larger land mass equals more rain plus we have tropical and sub tropical regions.
After 3 years living there the dreariness wore thin , dark til 9.30am and dark again by 4pm in winter. That 1 summers day a year was nice though.

I was there for over 30 years. And I agree that there is only so much 7 degrees and drizzle that a person can handle in one lifetime.

About one day in my books, conversely, 40C and 90%+ humidity wears a bit thin quite quickly.
