Their electronic systems were down the other day (Telstra?) and were using a manual system to effect purchases. If you offered plastic the cashier wrote out a form recording card no. and all your personal details, name address, contact phone number etc.
Fair enough I thought but I was in a bit of a hurry at the time so just offered cash to short circuit the process. They would not take the cash unless all the same personal details were also handed over. I said cash is anonymous but they would not process the purchase without it.
Left my intended purchase on at the counter, couldn't be bothered arguing with them and bought elsewhere later on.
