Looking at getting a 2.5 to 3.5 kw split system for a bedroom on the western side of the house. What is important is the noise level and the energy efficiency. What experiences have people had of their units?
thanks

Not just any Mitsubishi air con, but a "Mitsubishi Heavy Industries".
Energy efficient to be used in a caravan running LiFEPO4 batteries.

Bought a chinese "TCL" a few years back, has run well and was 1/3rd price of name brands. Had one problem with circuit board under warranty, they fixed it no probs at all.
We generally specify Panasonic units. For single purchases try Split System Air Conditioners Perth, Buy Air Conditioners Online, Reverse Cycle Air-conditioning Western Australia, Wall Mounted Split Systems, Daikin Air Conditioning Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane & Adelaide - GetCool.com.au - they are based in Perth but deliver nationwide and are super quick and quite cheap.
Do NOT get any cheap Chinese brand units. Stick with the major brands like Panasonic, Daikin or Mitsubishi. I cannot begin to tell you the problems clients of mine have had with these. A warranty is only good if the company remains operational or the units weren't grey imports.
Also, make sure you calculate the room size properly and don't get an undersized unit. A correctly sized unit will be far more efficient than a smaller unit running flat out all the time.
Just looked at where you are.
Have you considered ducted evaporative cooling.
In hot dry climates they work exceptionally well are are super cheap to run.
Friends had one out at Mt Isa and in 40+ degrees it kept the whole house at around 23 to 25 degrees.
But you need a dry climate, not an option here in Cairns.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
Well - house already has a swampy on it - but it doesnt quite do the job up the western end of the house in hot weather. So the SS is to fill the gap during those very hot spells.
We could consider getting a newer and better swampy but dont really want to go to that expense - it does a satisfactory job in most of the house most of the time.
