Spring has Sprung the Grass is Risen

Hi everyone, this morning i had a reminder that spring is here. I was walking through my garage to open the roller door to let old snoopy out the front to have a snoop around. As i was walking back i seen a movement in the corner of my eye. It was a very young bird, (feathered variety), hiding behind my floor jack against the wall. I retrieved the little birdy and it was squalking a lot but i held it gently in my always warm hands and took it out back. It's squalking had mummy and daddy flying around me concerned for their youngsters welfare. I walked over to the tree in my back yard and checked the little fellow out. Seems ok. No broken bits. The wing feathers were developed enough for flight but the tail feathers were still coming through. I said bye bye to the little one and threw it up into the tree. It flew very well and dissapeared, as did the parents. A short time later the parents did a fly through my garage but the little one wasn't able to make it, due to, i think, not having enough control over flight yet. I picked it up and i tossed it in the air as the parents flew back through the garage and all 3 landed on the tree out front. Isn't life grand.

Today i go to a funeral of a grumpy old bastard i call my mate.
    Bruce.
A better man at working bog and a spray gun i've never met.
    RIP Brucey.
    I'll miss you mate...😢😢

    Life goes on...

    Cheers Rod

Never fun going to the funeral of a friend. Hope it goes well.

Spring is sprung, the grass is ris,
I wonder where the birdies is?
They say the bird is on the wing,
but I say the wing is on the bird.

When I get back from Camden I will have to see if I can start the mower - if it ever gets dry enough to mow! Dunedoo, 40km upstream from here, has set a new September rainfall record, beating a figure eighty years ago. And there is another week to go.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Seen my mate off tonight, had a couple drinks. I havent had a drink since 1985. I havent missed much. Ill miss my old mate Bruce tho. I dont make friends easily but when i do there usually mates for life. Bruce was a friend like that, but his chosen female partner was very hard to deal with. But he's gone now. Probably argueing with St. Peter at the pearly gates knowing him. He was quick with a joke or he had a comment or opinion about everyone. But generally a very decent man. Give 'em hell Brucey.

    RIP mate.

Rod, my wife will tell you that as one life ends another usually begins.

Unfortunately you had to farewell Bruce but the story you told about the little bird says that spring is here and the new life does abound. Thanks for sharing the two stories and doing so honestly.

We have had some early season rain recently so our grass will soon be shooting up where brown earth has been for the past three or four months.
    Cheers, Dale
