Many experts think humans are changing too slowly to prevent us from hitting a 2 degree rise, so it will inevitably happen because of past bad decisions, and is likely to go well above that. The results could include flooding, more extreme weather events, more land will become desert and agricultural industries will fail in some areas and have to be restarted in other areas. For example, some wine growers are already moving from the mainland to Tasmania, I read.
Anyway, climate change is a different topic, except that burning coal contributes to its causes.
