You mean this post?
That's a follically challenged statement if I ever saw one, not proof of anything. Batteries and inverters have been shown to support grid stability since at least 2010, from a short search. If a 2MW box of electronics gets out of sync, it gets spat off the system. Hopefully without too much damage.
This is not opinion. This is not ideaology. This is physics.
Grid stability battery systems for renewable energy success - IEEE Xplore Document
It's already done in the civilised world, just not in SA which happens to be at the arse end of the planet and ruled by complacent numskulls. So when it does actually appear in our system it won't be backyarders bodged gizmos, it'll be fully engineered and tested solutions.
To me, the whole thing is akin to the Health System Payroll debacle in Qld a few years ago.
Rushing an untested database system into service simply to meet a political deadline is as stupid as shutting down existing power systems to replace them with unproven technology just to try to prove some green ideology.
All they've done is put the whole green power generation idea back into the dark (literally and figuratively) and lost the support of many consumers, and raised support for the Luddite brigade.
Sure, coal and gas will eventually be phased out, but don't rush it, and throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Back when I was an IT professional, you ALWAYS ran a new system in parallel with the old system, until you'd ironed out the bugs, THEN you went live with the new system, mothballed the old one for a while until the new system was fully proven, and only then did you decommission the old system - common sense, really.
Sadly, when the W,W & W crowd get a bee in their collective bonnets, common sense becomes very uncommon.
End rant![]()

what is this green ideology and green power you are bringing in here?
we are talking renewable and alternate.
you may be able to call biomass green , but it isn't really.
I was using "green" as a catch-all phrase for the forms of power generation that do not involve digging out fossil fuels, including such as renewables, alternate (which I think would include things like biomass, wave/tidal generation, etc). The phrase springs to mind because a large number of the most vocal schemers and screamers tend to align themselves with (the worst elements of) the Greens party.
