The Parents of miscreant kids are the ones who need guidance and education.
With Aussie kids the problem is mostly but not always bad or misguided parenting.The same could be said for a lot of the Immigrants as well. But with many immigrant families the problem is that the kids can't find a way to fit in. Their parents either don't know how to help them, or are directly telling them that they can't or shouldn't fit in because the Australian culture ,which allows so much freedom is abominably debauched.
How about the notion of taking the parents of these kids to task and make it a legal requirement for them to undergo an analysis of their problem and a program to rectify it? Who knows, it could save a lot of money and heart ache in the long run. Perhaps we could even produce a Nation of little darlings.

I like your style Billy,, the only problem being the do-gooders will say you can't tell someone that their useless, and need sorting. That would be discrimination or something, and be bad for their self esteem.

Well that's right Chops, but you wouldn't tell them that they're useless and dysfunctional because even though often they are, that would only reinforce the same image of themselves that not only we have but most likely, subconsciously, they have.
I'm sure the do-gooders could be convinced that if people are failing in life, they need re-educating. That would be a good thing wouldn't it? I'm sure too that mandatory analysis and re-education could be legislated for, without violating anyones rights or impinging on their liberty.
Of course, it would have to be a well thought out program conducted by experienced professionals and not some fluffed up bollux dreamed up by some bureaucrat to placate the braindead shock jocks and mind numbingly inane tabloid News Papers.

I understand how they feel when family stuff falls apart, and I understand how parents and family can coerce them into doing wrong,, I've seen it all too often. It's good I think, that they can look back and see what's wrong and in some cases fix the problems. But not all creeps come from a bad family or upbringing,, I know quite a few who have had the best of everything, and watched parents beside themselves, distraught with what their kids do.
So, however,, yep, there's always a "but", isn't everybody taught a right from wrong, and from a fairly early age? I get that crap parents won't do the right thing by them at the right age, and these ****** should be held accountable for this I'm sure, but even at school, we should be going through these same teachings,,, isn't this part at least why we school our children?
As young teenagers surely they can hear when someone tells them it's wrong,, but a lot of them just take the attitude "stuff you", and do whatever it is that they want.
I'm all for kids standing up for themselves, but who teaches them that they can have whatever attitude they want. There's just no discipline or respect for anyone,, and half the time, not even themselves.

Is the judiciary also soft on corporate crime. Seems to be a bit on the news about unpaid work and withheld super. Never hear the results of investigations or punishment if found guilty .

The issue of fine quotas is really proven whenever the cops take industrial action.
What's the one thing they stop doing that has the state pollies rushing to negotiate?:twisted: stop issuing fines of course, because without them they become a cost to the govt rather than an income stream!

Also even when things are perfect, they still leave the revenue raising cameras in place. A perfect example is Bulli primary. Several years ago there was a child killed crossing the hwy after a pensioner drove thru a red light, the govt finally listened and removed the crossing , fenced off the middle so no one could cross and used the old coal mine rail bridge as a pedestrian crossing (parents had been asking for this for years!) BUTthey have never removed the speed camera at the bottom of the hill!

As alluded to by a previous post by a person with copper friends, there are no 'official quotas', and no cop who wants to advance his/her career will say there is. Yes there are 'targeted operations' etc, but the only way an officer is going to prove to their boss that they actively participated(and avoid managerial advice) is to provide proof in the way of infringement notices, arrests/reports. 'Showing a presence in a patrol car'isn't an option, they want 'stats'.

When a superintendent displays power point presentations at senior management meetings showing and naming individual officers and their'stats' (pinch numbers) and suggesting management intervention with 'lower performing officers', that is an unofficial quota.

Same when a senior sergeant puts up a similar printout in staff offices, trying to shame the coppers at the bottom of the list with the least 'pinches' for the month, is also a form of 'unofficial quota'.

If you are the coppers in the above situations and you value keeping your job, or not being transferred somewhere undesirable, would you not be tempted to get into your car and go find a few easy pinches?

Police do a fantastic job, they do everything we won't do in society, they have to put up with crap from their bosses, crap from the public,crap from the crooks, in no way am I demeaning them, who do we all call upon when we need help, the police. Even the crooks who hate them, go running to them at a drop of a hat. They are constantly under scrutiny, and totally accountable. I doff my hat to them.

And no, I didn't get this 'tripe' from listening to talkback radio, reading newspapers, or facebook friends!
