The press only report a tiny portion of the actual evidence and legal argument and not always accurately anyway. But people still get very judgmental even with little knowledge of the facts. Me pointing this out won't change that, I know

Usually I am of the opinion "Wait for the evidence." but in this case, he did it, no question.
The thing is, if he was of sound mind, he should be locked up in prison for the term of his natural life. If he is a loopy looney, he should be locked up in a mental institution for the term of his natural life.
Either way, removed from society, for society's protection.

Let's see what the outcome is. Typically people who aren't fit to plead face a very bleak future locked up with the white coats.

I tend to agree with you to a certain degree But in this particular case all that can be gotten Wrong is the sentence given Because there is ABSOLUTELY NO doubt that this piece of scum killed 6 people and injured 28 others on that awful day.
The Flavour of the month with various Scumbags that commit crimes these days is either "I am a nutter" or "I had a crap upbringing" and the lawyers are having a feeding frenzy with this because win, loose or draw these slimebags get paid and much of this money comes from the public purse via legal aid.
YES everyone deserves their day in court But what this bloke did is indefensible and he has shown NO remorse for what he has done and all he is doing at the moment is to try and lessen his punishment for his cowardly deed by this totally BS insanity plea.
I fervently hope that proper justice will be served and this piece of garbage spends the rest of his days in prison or better still he tops himself.

He's going to be locked up for life. Only question is what kind of institution he is in. Anyone who does what he did is obviously disturbed (polite word) so I expect he will be treated like Martin Bryant.

It would be interesting to compare how the trial and outcome of the guy that ran down all the people on the sidewalk in Toronto a little while ago, and this one in Melbourne.

This guy has now said that He doesn't want to go to jail, but wants "to live in a secure place where He can "interact" with women" (end of quote).
