1. He plead guilty to manslaughter, not murder - as I've noted a few times, there is a difference because not all killing is murder.

IMHO, the "Darwin Shooter" should not have been "taken into custody", He should've been "shot on sight".
He will now be a guest of Her Majesty, warm bed, TV, 3 meals a day for the rest of his life, paid for by you & I.

Well however remote a possibility, there is always a chance that the person they had was not the shooter at the time - we know differently now.

Remember in the Christchurch shooting they initially thought there were three shooters and ultimately apprehended three people, two of which had guns but only one was the shooter, the other with the gun was a doogooder trying to help the police and just confused matters, and the third just matched the initial description.

So in the Christchurch incident - following your logic all three woud have been killed by the police when only one was the perp.

I guess there is a reason why the police also have to follow the law and not be judge, jury and executioner.

The prisons are not run by the state governments, They are a federal concern So Yes we all contribute to their running costs.

Rubbish, prisons are a state responsibility, albeit partially propped up with Commonwealth grants.

After 1/7/19,all in Qld will be run by the State Government,except Gatton,which has an extension of contract for 3 yrs.

Gatton will still be funded by the State Govt,but will be privately run.

All the youth centres in Qld are also run by the State Govt.

The costs of running these centres is ridiculous.

Finally a sensible judgement in Australia, 42 years prison for attempted murder.
