How old is too old for a new tire?

I have been offered a set of Pirelli Scorpion ATR in 7.50R16 size at a bargain price first because this size is no longer demanded and second because of the manufacturing date, they have been manufactured in mid 2014.

Is this offer to be considered or should I look elsewhere?

Grab 'em, 5-6 years is considered a tyre's life, regardless of tread depth.

5-7 years for a tyre in use

properly stored and wrapped the DOM is irrelevent and you can start the clock from the day they go on the road.

with average storage tyres age at about half the normal rate

with poor storage they age at rate.

The tyres youve been offered should be good for at least another 3 years unless they've been damaged or exposed to chemicals.

I could not care how old they are. If the price is right they go on my car.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Condition is a better indicator than age.

Depends on where and how they've been stored.
Two years old should be fine.
I've got a pair of BFG MTRs that have been on my regularly used Defender for the last 9 years. The treads should be good for another 2 or 3 years.
