When wrangling sparks, isn't it - red to red, white to white, blue to bits...?

I do get you point however, mucking up the fuel type doesn't have the same consequences of an incorrect isolation, permit or similar so the processes you put in place would never be as stringent.

I do a similar one with the Defendoor on Emma's 90...
I remove it and sit it on the drivers floor when refuelling.

I can't miss it, forget it or drive off without it.. I STUFFED UP

Where as Mrs Tombie has, only once, but now she does the same... no more forgotten Defendoor I STUFFED UP

    I probably shouldn't have been on the road...but I was ( I'm sure we've all been there.)

Then you get little pearlers like this....

Sorry the photo is on its side.. the forum seems to do that to some iphone images.

But if you lean to the left... the green and blue sign you see is attached to the hose with a black handle in the image that does pump Diesel

Tom, my comment was TiC, as I'm sure you realise, but I think you're being a bit harsh. Even tanker drivers have been known to drop the wrong fuel into the wrong tank. I've never done that or put the wrong fuel in a vehicle, but I can see how easily it could be done.

That's a cracker... I STUFFED UPI STUFFED UP

At least the nozzle does say Diesel, its location says Diesel, it has the Diesel interlock and the price window will display Diesel if you've picked up the correct nozzle I STUFFED UPI STUFFED UPI STUFFED UP

And Mark, when you made your error, you owned it I STUFFED UP

When I went in to have a discussion about the sign with the attendant at said BP to make 110% sure I wasn't about to repeat my now famous wrong fuel in the tank trick... he couldn't see what the problem was..

" It is just adverting.. it's on all the other pumps too "

(Which were all Unleaded pumps )

Caltex Vortex can also be confusing, Vortex was originally a motor spirit, now it's also a distillate.

Off topic a little but a mate of mine pulled up at a servo to fuel his boat.
It was a largish boat so, when on the trailer, the gunwales were about chin height for him.
He unscrewed the gunwale mounted filler & inadvertently placed the fuel nozzle in an adjoining rod holder & proceeded to pump well over 100 litres of fuel onto the floor of his boat. The tank holds 180 so it took a while for the penny to drop that the smell of petrol was somewhat stronger than it should have been
Funny now but, at the time, it became an environmental & safety issue and the servo had to close for some time.
Old mate was not a popular bloke, I can tell you.
    Steve
