Try crashing in a Geely TX4 (London Taxi) that have been imported from China. How they are allowed on Australia's roads defies description. Yet somehow these have slipped through the safety cracks.....

I've seen one in Brisbane and assumed it was imported from the UK.

There is one in Ferntree Gully, they have a business hiring an old bus and they have a London Taxi that they hire out for functions. The one's I have seen have be owned by hire company. Heather

John Hughes (Perth auto dealer) began importing them into Perth 2-3yrs ago and they are slowly finding their way to other parts of Oz (100+). They didnt meet the required ANCAP safety standards then and certainly don't meet them now, but are being imported anyway. From memory, to get around some of the safety concerns one of the conditions of use was speed being limited to under 100kph. Would certainly hate to be a passenger in one if it had a serious accident.

London taxis probably wouldn't be involved in high speed crashes anyway, London is always grid locked. Parked cars would need safety features

That might work for London, but I dare say it might not be such a hot idea in Australia!

Same goes for a lot of old Land Rovers, but we drive them anyway.

I shudder to think of the outcome if I pranged the 101...
