    7.4 Earthquake just reported in NZ

    An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 has just been reported in New Zealand.

    Not too much news coming out yet.

    M7.4 - 53km NE of Amberley, New Zealand

    Pic of the coast road on the Kaikoura coast, I've traveled along it, there is a seal colony on the rocks near the waters edge, hope no one was traveling along it when this happened.

    Mrs is over there at the moment, in the North Island, said it was very strongly felt there, a power pole outside my sisters place in North Island snapped off and her staircase was twisting.
    Interisland ferries can't dock at Wellington or Picton, due to wharf damage. Geonet says there was a 3m tsunami recorded off Kaikoura. Very lucky the epicentre wasn't in a city.

    Aftershocks from 5 to 6.2 felt. The quake itself was felt from Auckland to Chatham islands , which have been on tsunami alert.
