I once hired a houseboat on Lake Tinnaroo for 10 days.
Except for the Sunday when all the water ski boats were around it was bliss.
Yes, we had to cook & do basic house work but generally it was so peaceful & I managed to loose about 20 games of Canasta to SWMBO.
Similar would be only "Cruise" I would take I think.

8 years ago Galapagos Islands, small boat only 30 passengers max. Four days moving at night exploring islands, swimming and wildlife by day. I wanted to do an 8 day cruise but SWMBO said no, too long.
At the end I was castigatedfor not insisting on the longer trip.
Wonderful time for us and the kids and a very knowledgeable naturalist/guide on board as well. Snorkelling and watching the turtles below, seals and birds totally un afraid. It was hard to keep the requisite distance from them because they didn't care about maintaining separation.
Do it again in a heartbeat, but would have to win lotto first
    Cheers

loved the P&O cruise my wife and i went on and having worked on various size vessels i was pretty sure i wouldn't like the experience, but i did and would do it again in a heart beat.

we dined most evenings at the restaurant included in the price and either got there early or latish for the breakfast and lunch in the 'mess hall"

i found that experience more amusing than off putting...

all them little old ladies hanging onto trays of tucker that would stop a footballer...

We once did a cruise on Ha Long Bay in Vietnam on a luxury junk (had aircon and a dining room on the top deck) and loved it. Each afternoon the junks anchored together and we watched the sun set over the islands. Beautiful. Visited a floating village. Stopped to paddle canoes to islands to swim. Delicious food. Very restful. Would go back again in a heartbeat.

Funnily enough Bradley I just knew you were going to pop up and say you were going on/or were on a cruise......
Cook and I discovered very quickly that the only way to eat is in the restaurant as the cafeteria areas were full of oafs and the food gave me a bad gut very quickly. Problem was the cooks took the food out of the ovens then left it standing where it cooled off then put it into the heating trays where the bacteria probably flourished.
I did complain to the company and they sent a large tray full of chocolates for Cook... and they arrived in a hot box courier vehicle in the middle of summer and had all melted!
Good thing was I lost 5kg due to gut sickness...... But I've put it all back on again since.
    Enjoy the cruise.
