What's their T&C say?
My mates daughter recently had a taxi hit her vehicle. She's insured with Bingle.
It seems Bingle makes you pay the excess and then when they are reimbursed by the other party, they then refund it to you.
Has anyone heard of this before, seems a bit odd compared to other insurance companies.
Also they dictate where you must take your vehicle to for repairs, no choice of repairers.
What's their T&C say?
Their product disclosures says excess is payable, but it doesn't say anything about not paying it " in not at fault" accidents.
Also using their repairer.
I personally have never paid an excess for a ''not at fault accident'' with other insurance policies so find their way of doing it strange.
Same story with my old, old insurance company. A rather big one.
My car was stolen. It was an organised group who stole stuff in Victoria, took it up to Queensland to sell.
The police rang me at 4am one morning to ask if I had a CB in the car. Aparrently the police, thinking the CB was stolen, tried ripping it out of the car. When the dash loom came out with it, they thought they'd ring and ask.
I met the theives. They were about in their mid twenties. The police had them under surveilence for a couple od days. The police gave me the police report.
So, to get the car fixed, I paid the banel beater an excess. I spoke to the insurance company to get the exess back. "We won't get it back." they said, "It was 16yo joyriders who will never be caught." "No it wasn't." I replied, "I have the police report. Mentions nothing of 16yo joyriders." "You won't be getting the excess back.", was their final reply.
Interestingly, some years later, I met a woman protesting outside their offices. I wished her good luck. She then felt it neccessary to tell me her tale of woe. It was a similar story to mine. I probably did a bad thing and drained what hope she had left. I basically told her I was screwed by that insurance company and may have mentioned the futility of it all.
So, Mario, good luck with getting blood from that stone. I wish you well.
There is a reason why some advertised insurances appear cheap.
I now go through a broker, mostly, except for the hobby cars that are with that company that caters for enthusiasts.
Insurance is a lottery you hope you never win.
You usually don't pay excess if other driver is at fault and insured..
Theft claims you'll always pay.

And here is their comment on excess:

Looks pretty black and white.
As said previously..... there is a reason some are cheaper than others...always![]()

No I don't deal with them, I deal with Shannons and as long as you have the other persons detaills whether or not they are insured they will chase them.
I have never had to pay an excess on no fault claims, even didn't pay an excess for hail damage, as it was not my fault thatv thew heavens opened.
