Depends on the "refueling" on the way home. There is a pub at the half way point (I'm serious), now you can't walk past and not call in to say "hello", it would be rude, wouldn't it.

These days, on the odd occasion that I do any paid work, it takes me a matter of seconds to be at either my desk or my workshop out the back.

When I was last working full time in Perth, it took me about 10 minutes to get to work and about 20 minutes to get home. I was staying in an apartment in Adelaide Tce (almost in the Perth CBD) and working in an office in Nedlands. Travel times would have been significantly longer had I worked "normal" office hours - but I was always the first in the office at about 5:00am and finished up anywhere after about 2:00pm most days, so I was not really bothered by Perth traffic. Had they insisted I work "normal" hours and travel at the same times as everyone else, well - I would have left that job a long time ago ...........................

City traffic, especially at peak periods, you can keep it. I have never worked in a job that required me to travel in that mess, and never will. However, I have worked quite a few jobs over the years where my travel time to and from the job each day was about an hour or so. Don't mind that - but in country / bush areas only. Not even vaguely interested in doing it in "suburbia" thanks.
    Cheers .........

These days, my ute is work. Step outside hop in and I'm there.

In my old fun days I lived in the British Virgin Islands and my office was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
My record for getting to work was 5 days 12 hours. Mostly used to take 8-10 days.

If I walk, then about 15mins.
    If I drive, 3mins.

I work 1.2kms away from home... It's a rough life.... actually no, I think it would be better to live a little further away because I dont think the car likes it much

In my last job I lived at work, so get out of bed and I am there. Current job is about 15 minutes to the depot where the trucks are parked
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Depends which office I'm working from...

Option 1: (first choice) office is 8km away.... so worst case 15-20 min in peak hour.

Option 2: (when I have to..) office is 1-1 1/4 hrs in peak... or 30-40 minutes out of peak.

    Option 3: (Sydney Office)....average 3 - 3 1/2 hrs door to door

Heaven forbid, you're nothing if not polite Jim.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Extending this to the family, oldest son has an office in a house four doors from home in Sydney so about two minutes walk, daughter has a 10 minute drive to Maleny and youngest son used to do a 90 minute FIFO from Brissie, but he got promoted to the Brissie HQ and now has a 30 minute train ride and a short walk.
