That's my thinking too Jones. But if you brake hard and at 60kmh try to swerve around in a Hilux the test proves it will start to roll... Which is why I still think the test is important.

No brand wars here. Love 200 series. Nearly bought a Hilux until I heard about all the rollovers... I actually put a $35k offer on a SR5 but changed my mind...

But they keep selling

We have a 2010 navara, 2012 BT50 and my 2014 hi-lux in my fleet at work......if I was buying new out of these three for personal use I would seriously consider the hi-lux as it's not had a spanner on it (BT and Hi-lux have similar kilometers) and just seems more solidly built. They all have there issues that's why I'll stick to a defender for touring.

Fleet operators like US don't care about media reports. We use a fleet of marina if it was a good deal.


I service a small fleet[government]
ranger is the best to drive but most unreliable.
D-Max is the best but the drivers don't like.


Hilux lasts-is liked-cheap to operate. driver friendly.

I just got home after 2 1/2 days driving 4523km's from Brisbane to Perth,along the way I swerved around quite a few roo's,a pig and a dozen goats so for me handling is important.The TDCi burnt through 430ltres which works out at around 9.5ltres per 100km's,keep your hilux,I'll stick to the defender. Pat

Think on this one Pat,, came over a crest with the van on doing around 100 and there were many cows on the road,
Fortunately God was looking after me, I slipped down the centre line and missed them all,,
Sometimes luck trumps moose's, ;)

When I drive the Melbourne Adelaide run the Hilux gets 9.2 LPH for the 800KM run at 100KPH with the cruise control on. :).

Didn't have to swerve thank God... :D

I'm not saying I wouldn't have a Defender if I had a choice though... :D

Hit a cow once in a landcruiser that walked out of the table drain and stopped in the middle of the road - lucky for the bull bar or we would have all been in a lot of trouble.

If you ever get really unlucky , a bull bar is of no use when hitting a skunk. I hit one once with the first car I bought. Result was damaged steering. Problem was repairs would not commence til the stink was abated. Eye watering.

I believe in making my own luck Pedro,thats why my vehicles don't look like they have been rolled in an ARB catalog. Pat
