A Dropping Shell was alleged to have caused her explosion & I have read somewhere that she had a Timber Deck the same as some Aircraft Carriers of the time. No hope at all from Guns of those sizes. In many ways it seems like it was a similar event to the loss of HMAS Sydney with crew off the WA Coast off Geraldton in WW2 with no one to tell of those events except the German version.
