Family friends who are retired medico's have told me about women having the wildest contractions with smiles on their faces.

I lived in Spofforth Street Cremorne. Poshest bloke back then was John Meillon. Lived next point over, Mosman. Things have changed somewhat.

the dosage is also very different. the dosage of the ancient ones is much less

Dunno about that, but the opiates are purer, and ancient? The opium poppy is still in very widespread use in "third world" countries, except where drug lords rip it off, leaving the locals with nothing.

Hah, John Mellion House in "My name's MacGooly" was at the bottom of my Street (Lookes Ave) in Balmain East. A not so posh Character in the least posh part of Sydney. Things have changed all right.

Used to love McGooley, back in the day. Also spent some lazy Sunday arvos in the Balmain, and some not so lazy Saturday nights, in the 70s.
