IME apple don't do that. Their operating systems and related hardware are so durable that 'new stuff' comes along that can't be accommodated by one or the other, or both.
I'm typing this on a 2019 macbook, connecting to the net through an iPhone 5S getting around 40mbs sitting in the bush, chez moi.
The last macbook will get a new battery because it has a DVD port and is very handy and nice to use.
The architecture on it couldn't be updated for modern secure internet connections, so I had to get a newer one.
