That is always assuming there was an operator. Maybe it was self steering, GPS guided following a map? (That did not have the powerline on it)

Lol. I once spent a couple of weeks filling in on a thing known as a Rock Saw, which was essentially a D10 sized DitchWitch. No GPS in those days, but laser guiding. Of course, this meant that the route was surveyed for permanent obstacles. But if someone decided to build a block of flats in the way after the survey was done, and the op was asleep ( often, bloody thing was boring ), well I'll leave it to your imagination.

A few years ago, my sister’s boyfriend gave me a flight in his Cessna 182 over the area around his property in Qld. I was surprised by the dead straight plowing of paddocks on adjacent farms.
His wasn’t as he plowed without GPS.

In 2001 I was towing a barge from Sydney to Brisbane. About 20 Miles off Smokey Cape doing 3 Knots, the GPS was telling me I was travelling at 180 Knots 6 miles West of Armidale. The other GPS was telling me an equally ridiculous story. I had a specialist check them both in Brisbane but he couldn't fault them.
Do you think it might have something to do with another incident, 4Mile off South Head, when a conning tower appeared between the tug and tow, then quickly disappeared?
Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.
What are your thoughts on it cuppa? You must have the seagoing experience after all these years. My first thoughts on it are yes but I cannot explain it as it seems too much of a Coincidence tor me.
If it had U308 painted on it, Diver would know about it, or should..
