Probably interesting and odd. From around '76, from memory. Gotta love my hair.
Never had anything to do with them - but was interested in them as they were "different" from conventional cars in many respects But unlike, say, the Mini, they were not really successful.

Horrible little cars. AMI dropped the price to 750 quid registered on the road during the Menzies credit squeeze to hopefully shift enough to survive. They were held together with self tapping sheet metal screws. A mate bought one, a two door sedan. We smart aleck young tearaways found out that the roof could be easily unscrewed to make a convertible for beach trips. The RH door fell off one day going around a LH corner one day. Another time the screws holding the drivers seat to the floor pulled out and Mac was on his back trying to haul himself upright and steer. I was still in a machine shop then and did quite a few mods to the diff stub axles. They had a square cornered circlip groove which was a stress point and the stubs used to break in half. We would take a new stub and machine a round bottom circlip groove in it.
