I have seen a lot of that working on AC units and cold room units in ceilings, over the years.

And snakes curled up in ceilings as well, one i saw had a head bigger than my hand.

The apprentice with me at the time did the Harold Holt

It was a tenanted property,we just did the job and got out of there.

I once also removed the cover off a large Electrical Distribution Board,at a Supermarket, and there was a medium sized carpet snake curled up behind the Bus bars.I put the cover carefully back on,and that evening we had to shut the store down and had a snake catcher get rid of it.A very lucky snake.

Today was interesting. Woken up by workers at 7am. A 200 ton crane was reversing into a vacant block in the next street. They got bogged with the semi's carrying the counter weights. I offered the perentie to tow them out but they declined. Eventually removing counter weights by moving the crane again and lifting them off. Back to the interesting bit. The 200 ton crane extended 7 sections of boom arm and lifted a 750kg fibreglass pool across 3 back yards and into the 4th back yard. They didn't need the capacity but the reach, due to power lines. Was an amazing sight. A pool floating across my back yard. The pool guy said it was a record distance lift for them at 68 metres.

Geez, that wouldn’t have come cheap. If I was one of the neighbours with the crane lift going over my place I would have wanted a carton or 2 or beer as well. Interesting, Odd or Funny Pics II.Interesting, Odd or Funny Pics II.

Especially if you use rain water tanks for your water supply. We used to have that problem with rat droppings into our water tanks on Norfolk Island.

Thats impressive. I was nervous enough having a crane lift a 300kg water tank over our house, but that's a much longer lift.

Yep, we're on tanks. Every so often I divert the down pipes and give the system a flush.

One thing I was amazed at, when I had access to the internal reservoirs of a couple of town water supply water towers, was the number of dead birds floating in the water. Mainly pigeons and swallows.

Rod, did they seek your permission or a permit or something to sling a load through the air over your property? I've sometimes wondered how that works as you don't own the sky above your property and you only own the ground down to a certain depth, so tunneling beneath your property can take place without your permission. I would have thought they would have to get permission and have homes within the falling-over radius of the crane vacated during the lift?

No permissions sought, although the home owner, a very nice chap, informed myself and my neighbour it was happening. My neighbour moved his last model Ford GT out of the shed just in case. Left the XB GT Coupe in there tho. Apart from the semi's getting bogged on the footpath, it all went without a hitch. No pun intended. They did seek permission to use the vacant block to put the crane into tho.
