Bloody no ELCB when I was a boy
I’ve still got a scar to prove it

When I was at tafe doing a pre apprenticeship, the lecturer was giving us a run down on how a ELCB (earth leakage circuit breaker, RCD, safety switch) works
He grabbed the wire hanging off the load side of the ELCB and it didn’t trip as he’d expected
He said afterwards he had done that ‘experiment’ dozens of times, he’d even tested the ELCB before hand to make sure it was functioning correctly

    Moral of the story
Just because you have a “safety switch” and even if it’s tested regularly, it doesn’t mean it’s going to save you when you need it to

From recent events there will only be a slave cylinders matter movement that will initiate the changing of the name of master cylinders.
Who knows some other toss will probably throw their 2 cents in and want things like grease nipples and male/female threads to have their names changed as wellInteresting, Odd or Funny Pics II.

Cripes! ELCBs, RCDs were before my time to **** around with & were not used in A/C especially if there was a Crankcase Heater or any other resistive component involved. Also, most A/cs drew too much Start current for those to be satisfactory. Same as you can't use them on Stoves as there is always a leakage from elements which can knock them out.

Could he explain it him being the Instructor? I bet he started with words "Oh ****...."

As my old Instructor would have said in those circumstances while dragging on a shaking butt " I've pulled a ****ter".

All domestic final sub circuits have to have RCD protection now
    A/Cs, ovens, bores everything
Commercial/industrial installations can get away without them if the owner or safety officer seems that the machine is not likely to be at risk of causing electrocution
I tell them “good luck in court if someone does get a tingle and it’s not protected”Interesting, Odd or Funny Pics II.
