We got the bowl on the head haircut

Bugger! You got a bowl? You lucky lucky bastard.

We didn't, the old man seemed to do it by Theodolite. Stood well back now & then tilted his head deep in thought before deciding whether to proceed further or not. But we had a proper Hairdresser's cotton cape, or it might have been something he borrowed from the 4MD Hospital at Keswick. Oh yes, all Hand Clipper stuff. None of your battery Powered stuff from ALDI.

Trouble brewed when our Mum came out & said " It looks ****ing terrible Fred", so back on the ammo box for another half round.

S'funny I wish I still had that Ammo Box. No idea what it had contained but it did look the business & was large enough for 4 x 25 Pdr Rounds although that wasn't stenciled on it. 2 rope handles. It would have polished up nice.

    Ah happy days.

Our house was an ex army hut that was put up on stumps to make it 2 levels. Enclosed down stairs and put a veranda on the side as the funds became available. By the time it was part rendered in stucco you would never have guessed the origin. Not sure planning laws would allow this today
