Yep all of that Gav, but the really really really important one is have a bloody good memory to remember what bull**** one has spouted..

Me “I spent about $100 on oil and filters to give it a service, that reminds me, when’s your car due for a service”

Me “how many kms have you done, I’ll go and have a look, have you had a hair cut? Your looking good , shall we slip into the bedroom for a bit of fun?”
Wife “NO!!!”
Me “OK, you can check the kms when your in it next, lets quickly get our gear off aye”

Me “ OK, I’ll go and have a look at the kms for you darling, I still think your looking good today!!”
I didn’t lie but I didn’t tell her about the other $1000 odd I spent on a rear locker and she’s happy I am checking when her car needs a service
When asked a week later about the other money spent at my favourite shop I just say “we spoke about this remember, I told you when we spoke about servicing the cars”
Then bring up the fact that she didn’t want to slip into the bedroom for some midday fun and her minds off the money again

Soon as I start slowing down I start going backwards
With a business, a farm, a house, a Land Rover, a wife and two boys, I’ve gotta keep it moving
The wife has to balance the books after the hurricane has been through, and the explanations (excuses) have to be top notch
Like you said earlier “there not devoid of brains” and you have to be on the ball
No bull****!!! Just a quick deviation from the full truth keeps it all going in the right direction
