Didn't somebody paint the name of a completely different town on a roof on the approach to an airport in the UK a few years ago for a giggle...?

For the younger members, Len wrote a number of books, describing his exploits. All are informative, entertaining with a good dose of humour, highly recommended reading.

    how sway how? - YouTube

One of the comments is from someone that lives close - "The gate is closed because just beyond the gate is a pedestrian area, when large crowds are there, the gate is closed. The gate was put in place because too many high speed cyclists were colliding with pedestrians. Now they collide with the gate."

Not sure if there should be better signage or if these people belong in the Darwin Award area?

I heard a recording of an hilarious talk he gave once about his times out surveying. He got through a few LRs. Well, it's more accurate to say he had a few "backups".

    Wish I had a copy.

Thanks Ian. I have read all of his hilarious books inc. the last one published in 1997

"Around the World in Eighty Delays" one of eight books "Too long in the bush" to this one

    All great reads.

When the Atomic Trials were taking place we would see this little Black & White Checkerboard "Jeep " thing around town.

    .

May not have been Len driving but more in for a service at Salisbury Workshops, .I'd say.
Have got an image of it or similar of a wanna be one (or an Original) parked up at Mount Lofty Summit in the 5o's, as well as one taken at the Adelaide Airport Passenger Terminal Car park.

Len was also the Honorary Patron to the Land Rover Club in SA

Assuming you are talking about the funny talk - it was at one of the clubs (Rotary type) in Shepparton.
I have a copy, and in this day and age its not that hard to copy it to a usb and post if you are interested.

Good one. Made me think of something similar so I went looking. Algorithm was not my friend, so I was prompted to post this instead.
