well Maybe not quite crook Ian.
There is an Eye impediment that if you close one eye & look at someone their face will look longer. Reverse that & their face appears normal size
Try it for your self & providing you have that impediment, most of his portraits would look cock eyed If said Mick squinted whilst doing the ceiling it could be full of strange looking bonces. I'll have a shufti next time I am in Roma visiting Audrey Hepburn & Greg Peck.

Mayb he got a splash of paint in one eye. After all, he laid up on the scaffolding for around 8 years, from 1508 to 1512!
