The record so far is 197 in an hour and a half.
I have used Dettol previously, before I discovered that its 'Toxic Shock' effect is extremely painful, residual and lethal to a lot of native animals. For example, a native frog encountering an overspray of Dettol on the ground, will succumb to its effects.
It's also dangerous for cats to come in contact with it. Not that I'll ever have a cat!

There's commercial stuff (supposedly humane) now available.

Yes I know, that is why I am extremely carefull.Sometimes I just use an eye dropper, two drops is enough.
I looked up the commercial stuff once before but I can’t remember why I didn’t get some.
Another way is to bag them and in the freezer, but carrying bags of toads around then putting them in the freezer is not ideal.

FWIW,i have seen crows go to a toad carcass the next day, flip it over and eat their organs.

Dettol does not break down, it can kill native amphibians simply from crossing the residual.
Apparently, dogs can build up an addiction and resistance to cane toad venom.

The toads i get are out on the ovals,no where near the water course or any native frogs, etc.
Lots of long grass and scrub are around the two sports fields, which they hide in and cant be seen.

We used to get the hose and wash out the dogs mouth after they had been playing with a toad, which seemed to work.
This dog we have trained not to go near them, ditto for snakes and lizards.
And she wears a muzzle at times, particularly when around areas where they are baiting or have baited with 1080.

Just the shot for Saitch, you could save a fortune in ferry charges, however the fuel bill for the Terraplane might negate some savings.
