Died from leukemia and he was the carer to his (second) wife who had a stoke 5 or 6 years ago. Not nice for anyone in that situation.
Michael Chamberlain, whose nine-week-old daughter Azaria was snatched by a dingo in Uluru in 1980, has died aged 72.

I have always felt sorry for the Chamberlains, I had an experience with dingo's shortly before their child was taken that went in their favor, but no one wanted to listen to me, The so called blood in their car, and the young inexperienced police that trampled and destroyed so much evidence destroyed the night of the event at their camp site. Not only was a young child lost but a family was destroyed.

Well said hog, thanks.
I obviously remember the horrible jokes and scuttlebutt at the time and how easily dissenters (from the notion that the parents were murderers) were abused, put down & threatened - I certainly don't remember any apologies from that hoi polloi when the exonerations eventually came through. The event seem to encourage the worst of mob behaviour .... I won't keep ranting.
Lindy kept and indexed the tens/hundreds of thousands of letters she received and recently donated them, all boxed and indexed, to the National Museum
R.I.P. Michael Chamberlain
Very sorry to hear this. They were treated terribly.

I've just seen this post re Micheal Chamberlain, we were @ Ayers rock quite a few years before they visited, the dingoes were not scared of humans, they would be around you just out of arms reach (not that you would want to grab one) you couldn't scare them off, everything had to go back into the Land Rover at night, they would be up sniffing at the front of your tent all night long, anyone I told this too didn't believe me either.
I have had a few small dealings with the man, he was a friend of a mate of mine, he did offer on many occasions to come n help me with my restorations but I kept knocking him back as I thought I might have to do it all over again as like me he didn't have any trade qualifications, from all reports that I ever got about him he was a good bloke, cheers Dennis
