    MoveLater2 Rotary flail mulcher

    Doing some research on small (around 600mm cutting head)flail mulcher to fit to a tiny excavator. The smallest I have found so far is for a 5 tonne + machine and weighs in at 330kg and is 1300mm long. Might have to look at build one. So if any of the smart people in landy land can point me in a direction that would be great.

    This is what I bought a whilst ago,secondhand as new,for half what they sell for.
    It goes really well,build quality is OK,much better than chinese imports.I use it mainly to turn wet newspaper/cardboard into pulp for compost and worm farms.DESTROYS any tree branches either thru the chipper or straight down its guts.I love using it
    They do a PTO version of mine,Ive got the big Honda.

    We have an AWHI mulching head for our 20T digger at work,you could see if they do something small,the Perth dealer also sell baby diggers.Top quality gear,ours has eaten thousands of trees

    That would be bigger than the digger I am looking at, it is on 800mm track. depth of 1100mm and reach of 2000mm, a real baby, flow rate is only 22lpm

    Gee's look at the armour on the earth moving equipment on that website. Anyhting that's capable of driving a flail above 3PL height must risk being in the path of the flails exhaust.

    Sometimes there is hydraulic flails at the auctions ( I assume ex-council for roadside use ). It could be worth keeping your eyes on the auctions to see if anything small enough goes through

    Yeah I know... I almost bought a flail but missed out a few months back ( I didn't make a descision quick enough and someone else bought it). It was a 3PL flail with finishing blades rather than hammers (they looked like long bent swing back mower blades rather than cast iron hammers). Damn it ... it would have been perfect for me. I should have grabbed it the seconds I saw it.

    I would look at a bigger digger if the finances can stretch.
    At 22lpm you wont have much hydraulic capacity,both in the ability to drive an implement/its boom and then the ability to cool to cool the hydraulic oil.
    With a bigger machine at least you can get work digging footings,plumbing and electrical trenches etc.
    We hired a tiny digger once for a job at work we couldn't get the backhoe in.It was useless,sent it back and got one almost double the size,still a baby.It went OK.
