Ghost's Shed Build

Hi All,

Friday some more work was done on the shed... Basically they put the remainder of the tin up on one wall (although they still need to cut it), and they installed the colums/beams required for the 2 x roller doors:

The weather forecast was fine for the next 3 days, so....

Saturday - I firstly swept the floor, and then karchered it...

While waiting for the floor to dry, I then spent some time assembling some toys that I had been slowly accumilating over time...

By this time the floor was dry - so I spent the remainder of the day coating the floor in "Bondcrete - an extremely versatile bonding and sealing agent.."

So Saturday night no rain (great news), and the floor dried overnight.

The next job - installing the racking. I purchased second hand racking but unfortunately it has been living outside for a few months in the weather.
This wasn't a huge deal but it meant that every bracket and upright had to be cleaned (removing dust, grime, stickers, etc).

Once all of the racking had been cleaned - a lot of energy was spent trying to work out the best utilisation of the racking/space... The racking came in different sizes/types, and there was only so much of it.

The remainder of the day was spent cutting all of the chip board to size AND also painting it in Bondcrete...

Sunday - all of the chipboard was installed, and screwed down in place..

Monday was also a very busy day - installing/configuring the work benches (which are located in Bay 1 & 2). These benches have a much thicker/stronger top (MDF) as well as double strength cross beams):

The work bench will also have back boards installed, and configured as a "shadow" board - which I am moving across from the Garage...

A lot of time was also spent working out the spacing for the shelves. The bench tops have been coated in Bondcrete and screwed down.

The small racking (without a top on it) on the left is only temporary and will be removed, the internal wall (between bay 2 & 3) goes just to the left of that space..
The compressor and sand blaster fits nicely in that space...

I also managed to burn off the remainder of the tree branches, and quite a bit of cardboard at the same time.. [bighmmm]

So 3 very big days cleaning/sealing the floor, installing the racking & work benches.. [bigsmile1]

Actually I need to go back to work for a rest.

Full mesh is used as a fall prevention solution during the building phase and is all but useless unless fitted and fixed correctly. There are other options.

From what I've heard JEFF's shed would struggle.

A little birdie tells me that the 2 x roller doors are going on today, and the end wall.... Sounds like things are finally progressing at a quicker pace..

Mick - get in line, you're not the only one with that idea! [wink11]

Hi GG,

Been watching this story with interest. My big meccano set arrives Friday week and I'm doing the lot. Only 11 x 12 with a mezz in half of it. All legit with planning, permits, etc. Been an interesting experience.

Will take pics and learn how to post them up.

Not sure why you went with bondcrete to seal the floor, be careful to keep water off it. I have heaps of experience using it in small doses with heritage buildings in particular applications and have only ever used it on a floor in a cellar to hold together a very porous hand made brick floor.

* Finish off the roof.
* Fit capping on both end walls and the roof ridge.
* Install 2 x Roller Doors
* Install facing around roller doors
* Start installing internal wall.

* Finish internal wall
* Install 2 x PA doors
* Electrical - starts this weekend
* Hoist installation (that's going to be fun)
* Plumber (installing a tap on one corner of the shed) - booked in sometime next week
* Move IN (already started) - this will take quite some time.
