Tom, go high with the shed, that way you can always put in a mezzanine floor or a loft for storage, etc. Looking forward to watching the build. Cheers, Mick.

Almost done - the stump is being left in place so that it can be pushed over/out:

I feel exhausted just reading your posts ... If I had a bush block I could get firewood from .... I'd chase up a post hole digger ..... and a screw type auger.

As Mick said, he had a great run. Couldn't hold him back up through the Pentlands, and sat on 90 (GPS) easily and wanted to do more.

Fuel consumption was around 20 LP 100 KM by the looks of the fuel gauge.

Will be sorting the small electrical issues tomorrow that involved a push start and no indicators on the way home.

A small bit of the magic smoke escaped too, so I bet that's the problem,

Got an interesting thought in the brake issue - I'll be looking at that too. Will post more in my thread on all of this after a good nights sleep and some diagnosis in the morning.

Tom, those five 9 metre deep bays will house ten 88" Land Rovers, even a 109" and an 88" in each, so you shouldn't need to extend the shed for at least a couple of years.

    Cheers, Mick.

storage only ... You'll fit two cars side by side in a 4meter bay. So you can fit 4 cars in one of the bays if they are long term storage!

    Small Update

    Hi All,

Just a small update on the shed..

The last piece of the bureaucratic paperwork puzzle is called a "consent to build" form that comes from the VBA (Victorian Building Authority), a government department. I need this before the building certificate can be supplied (I've spoken to the building surveyor and he has said "as soon as you have the VBA consent form, I will give you your permit. You are ready to go")

Anyway... Let's just say that initially the VBA knocked back my application because my nationally accreditted "white card" is no longer accepted in Victoria as of 01/01/2017.. I had numerous heated discussions with the good folk at the VBA, and they finally agreed to make an exception for me.. Thank goodness.

I did say to them "I have national accreditation, so are you telling me that Victoria is no longer part of Australia? Have you informed Canberra? Have you changed the constitution?"

Anyway - that little issue is all now sorted, thank goodness.

I also spoke to the concreter:

    * He puts plastic down under ALL of his slabs
    * He will use double mesh in the hoist area
    * He will ensure that the hoist area is re-inforced for at least 3-4 mtrs

I'm still waiting on the VBA form but things are slowly happening..

    Hi GG,

Is the white card you refer to the construction site induction thing issued by Worksafe?

    Hi DL,

    That's it - precisely.

Prior to 01/01/2017 you could use any nationally accredited white card obtained anywhere in Australia, in Victoria.

As of 01/01/2017 they (VBA) will only accept White Cards that are accredited by Worksafe Victoria, and these cannot be done on-line. This is depsite numerous companies saying that they can provide a Victorian White Card on-line.

I was told that my white card is valid on any construction site - just not on my "owner builder" construction site.

I spent hours on the telephone on this subject... I came close to giving up, but I believe that things are all sorted now.
