Mick Marsh mentioned it the other day.
An 8metre wide asteroid just flew past us less than 40,000km away.
I dont know how close one can get before it affects us.....interesting.

this only today, like right now
DUCK!
Can we see it?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Just been out for a squizz, there's
a bright light, high in the western sky
a dull flashing light to the north
and a big amber street light low on the north-western horizon.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
At least with an imminent plane crash they advise you to duck your head between your legs and kiss your bum goodbye, but something like an asteroid passes close and they keep it a secret, don't want to scare people. Do these object just sneak up on us, even though billions are spent on space stuff.
40,000km is more than twice the distance from Sydney to London. Good luck seeing an 8m object at that distance.
there are actually 5 asteroids bypassing us today , the closest being only 380,000kms.
I might be looking at a Defender at the weekend with more k's on it than that!
Cheers,

Im thinking if an 8m asteroid collided with earth, the world would be blaming Trump for playing with his nukes.
