Last time I used the M5 I was done as a truck but that was because I had a car trainler on the back and they claimed the length is what pushed me over not the height.

I dont give a sh*t how good a road is, paying $9 for something i pay taxes to pay for is a load of crap. Matt
I could go on forever. Why the hell do we pay rego and 2/3rds of the price of fuel in tax only to have to then go and pay for the priviledge of using a road that my tax dollars paid for.
How long has the sydney harbor bridge been in use for? How much longer will people have to pay tolls for until the cost is re-couped? How many millions of dollars are earned each year from tolls on the bridge? I am sure its alot more than the funds which are needed to maintain the bridge. Where does the rest of the money go? Building the M7!!! Then they can earn 100% profit from every motorist who uses it. Matt

(if i take lurch through any tollgates i get charged the truck rates cos i
break the height beam.......i worked out that it would cost me $21 a day
round trip to get get to work and back using the M5 and ED.....multiply
that by 7 days......then add $90 dollars of fuel..... 8O )

and secondly...where has all my tax and fuel levy and all that 3x3 crap they
were talking about gone....not to mention regos....
Matt said it best.
And while I'm at it, I'm anti frigging e-tags. When you get country bumpkins like the missus and I visiting once or twice a year, trying to find our way around is an ordeal at the best of times without working out what road you can or cannot use due to Macquarie St back room deals, and then if I choose to contribute to some faceless corporations coffers to drive on a road the bloody state should have financed and be pinged extra because I drive the vehicle that I do (to cope with the $h!tty road conditions out here thanks to the lack of state and federal funding)........![]()
If memory serves, it was paid off about 15 years ago, but they left the toll on it to pay for the tunnel.Originally posted by Ace

if you have a look at the price board.....
it says cars with trailers pay the same as cars....
not trucks......!!
it takes me longer to get to work the expensive way than it does the toll free way....
go figure.....
for every return trip i do to work using the the toll ways.....i could an extra 200kms
in fuel for lurch.....
fuel to work and back equals around $90 per week....
tolls would cost $21 per day = $147 per week.....
(a saving of fuel for aces bqqs.......)
