We never kill spiders.
Spiders kill pests.
I watched show from Laos once where a group of kids went out putting their hands into holes in the ground and pulling out palm sized spiders , popping these into a bag they carried around their waist and when full took them home where mum dry fried them on the fire and served with rice, they really enjoyed them.

Down South here we don't get giant spiders - Huntsmen would be the biggest and they're just fun - used to live in a houseful of them. A scream a minute - literally sometimes from SWMBO and visitors. Can't say waking up with one on your pillow is much fun though.. Snake wise when I lived in the country was King Bowns mainly - only ever had to kill one at the Campsite I worked at that was threatening a school kid and striking at him.

The wife had a small black spider jump on her recently while she was in the shower. She raced around the house in a towel screaming hysterically about the 'huge huntsman' that had attacked her. I was outside and got into trouble for not being instantly available to rescue her. When I looked it took some time to even find the tiny spider. I took it for a walk in the garden.
Alas, Wife knows well about the Snake under the towell....and has no fear of it....![]()
Biggest spiders I've seen have been on the Munda Biddi mountain bike trail in SW of WA.
For some reason I would always end up first of the family of 4 (aka cobweb breaker).
On time there was a massive huntsman spider that had built a web across the trail and was sitting right there in the middle. I slammed on the brakes just about causing a pile up. When asked what the problem was words failed me and all I could say was "Bug! Bug! Bugity Bugity Bug! Look! Look!" whilst hopping from one foot to the other...... not my finest moment![]()
