    Exclamation NSW 12th Feb

If you live there you need to be aware of the Fire Danger Level for the 12th.
They call it CATASTROPHIC for a reason

our CFS commander said it quite well:

It's doesn't get much worse than the forecast for NSW tomorrow. The predicted conditions are set to be worse than those that caused the Black Saturday fires.
I've been in touch with many of my former colleagues and friends and they are as prepared as possible for whatever may occur tomorrow. In fact many have spent a nervous day today manning Fire Control Centres and Brigade Stations across the State.
Let us all hope: that they get through tomorrow unscathed, that the public head the warnings, and most importantly that everyone goes home safe.
    Good luck NSW!

Not a good night. Minimum overnight about 32, now up to 35, climbing rapidly. But wind is markedly less than forecast, which may mean it is just going to be a bit later arriving.

Yesterday, for the first time I saw my outside thermometer register over 50, and forecast for today is much the same temperature plus wind.

The Cassilis fire doesn't look good. The temperature down here in Yass has dropped dramatically over the course of the afternoon. Low 20s and occasional showers at the moment.

I don't think it has got as far as Cassilis yet, but you are right, it looks bad. The highway is closed. Wind should change to more southerly soon, but that will push it north on a very wide front.

I was looking at the Sir Ivan fire and was thinking about you John - I'm quite glad to see you on here!

I thought you were somewhere in that region.

Take care all our NSW friends. Especially those in the central west and over towards Port Macqaurie where things are looking a bit ugly.

I am about fifty kilometres upwind more or less from the Sir Ivan fire. However, with the change now having come through, the fire is heading north on a very wide front. and unless the wind drops, in a day or so Coolah will be under threat - and so will Rangier Rover from this forum.
