    ?

Sometimes communicating by email can be a PITA if the email is missed or overlooked etc.
I had a similar issue with Craddock's, ended up phoning them. Bingo, parcel was on it's way the next day.
You can phone the UK for about threepence these days, not like years ago when you needed to mortgage
    the house to do it.
I have used both Craddock's and Paddock's with good results.

BUY LOCAL I pays to shop around

I reasently rebuilt a TDI 300 engine from filler plug to sump plug I got quotes 3 from the UK for all parts them Uncle Ho talked me into getting one from MR autos at Red Cliff that are local and one from another local to my surprise MR came in $40 Aust. dearer than any UK quote and all parts were Genuine I did not have to think about it Any warranty claims are better and easier sorted closer to home than overseas And I saved a lot on postage as well and now have a great business relationship with them

... and here I was emailing a local vendor and go no reponse after a week.
Placed an order O/S and got it in 5 business days.

Watch 'em all go srambling thru their emails to find the order they missed...

Funny how people can rubbish britpart, but the moment a poorly veiled complaint of a local vendor comes to light, the ban stick comes out.

A lot of local suppliers I've used supply **itpart. One close to me used to remove the part from the blue box/bag before handing it over.

Typically, including freight charges, I have in the past saved maybe 30% by ordering from the UK. Yes returns would be a problem, in fact Paddocks have ignored a complaint in the past but another query I sent regarding seatbelts they got onto their supplier and had an answer within a couple of days (their inertia reel seatbelts from Securon do meet AU/NZ regulations and details are on the label)
I guess it depends how hard you push them.....

I don't think Britpart 'make' anything but outsource, Bearmach would probably be much the same and possibly even use some of the same sources.

Reading through the invoice from Paddocks is 'interesting'. It must be an EU thing (maybe not now!) that they have to list the Country of origin for every part. So you see mostly India, then China, one item was from Italy and, god forbid, one was from the UK !!

Through a colleague I have been trying to source direct from India but not having much luck so far, mainly because he is importing industrial parts and I am low priority. I have ordered a couple of Series I brake master cylinders and await to see whether I've wasted my money.

I've recently spent a fair bit with them,

they are pretty helpful, although shipping costs wouldn't be calculated until I placed an order

just a word of warning (not just paddocks) watch out for import tax if it's a big order, $800+ I think is the threshold,

My gear arrived pretty quickly, well packed, one item was wrong (aftermarket not genuine) but this was quickly rectified and they sent out the genuine item without requesting that I return the incorrect item

Are you comparing Vendors (local supplier to an OS one), because if you are I would have thought the actual product either of them supply is not really relevant to the discussion.

It IS relevant, when discussion is in regard to same brand products supplied onshore/offshore, and people preferring to buy local because of percieved better service. Refer post 9. I argue this is not always the case.

Saying offshore vendor X sells predominantly poor(er) quality wares is the same as saying onshore vendor Y sells poor(er) quality wares... which in turn is the same as saying I got poor(er) quality service at vendor Z. Replace X/Y/Z with company names, and it's a name and shame situation. You tell me where the line is drawn. I argue it's across all 3 points, but it's only ever enforced on the last.

All in all, no worry for me, I voted with my fist full of dollars.

Just had a look at the Paddocks web site We could have supplied the same starter close to that price as it is Britpart made in china. However we would not warrant them. At 65.65 pound plus freight it is not the more expensive bosch unit they have on their site which they show as Lucas . We have the proper Denso starters pretty well priced. It pays to check local vendors first and compare apples to apples. often people buy OS thinking they are getting a bargain and end up with inferior parts.
Just having a look on local ebay shows you can buy cheap starters from $134 with free delivery!
    Cheers, Mario

the day you stump up for the insurance is the day the mods won't enforce the name and shame rule.

there are a lot of people that have put in a lot of time and effort over the years to make this place what it is... i have no interest in risking that, so a few can shoot their mouths off, especially when the other side can do nothing to defend themselves in real time in most instances.

I shop around locally first and that includes OEM, you'd be supprised that some OEM parts can be similar and even cheaper than aftermarket, and some dealers will even sell you the aftermarket equivilent part to the OEM part cheaper than OS and local vendors, you just need to ask.
    Cheers Baz.
